The Cloud Operations team provides 24x7x365 support for all Syniti SaaS & Hosting customers globally.  This business unit is responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the cloud operations environment including the uptime, performance and high availability of all customer supporting systems inside of the SaaS & Hosted environments.  The SaaS & hosted ecosystem is comprised of multi-tiered applications, microservice architectures, containers & virtual servers as well as large & complex multi-terabyte SQL database systems.  The Cloud Operations environment exists across both private cloud and public cloud hyperscalers such as AWS.   

 

The ROLE 

The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer is an application lifecycle management & support resource who is experienced in Cloud Operations or managed service delivery environments.  The individual is responsible for the daily oversight and support of Cloud Operations systems and applications. The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for handling incidents and requests flowing through the Syniti customer ticketing portal and resolving issues within the defined SLAs.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO
 

  • Take ownership of the administration, optimization, and scaling of virtual servers (Windows and Linux), containers, and container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Docker), ensuring high availability and resilience in multi-cloud/hyperscaler environments like AWS.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and resolve cloud infrastructure-related issues, including network failures, compute performance degradation, storage bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities, ensuring minimal service disruptions.
  • Oversee all cloud operations service delivery activities, including designing and managing system deployments, upgrades, patching strategies, and decommissioning processes for optimal efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Identify, propose, and implement strategic improvements in operational processes, enhancing efficiency through automation, process refinement, and best practices adoption.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex incidents, lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts, and drive permanent fixes to prevent recurring issues.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the Cloud Operations team.
  • Work on a shift schedule based on the need of the Cloud Operations delivery team

 

WHAT IT TAKES
 

  • 4+ years of experience in job specific skills.
  • 4+ years working in ITIL aligned service delivery organizations
  • 4+ years of Infrastructure support experience
  • 4+ year of experience in Windows and Linux server administration in AWS
  • 4+ years of supporting containers, Kubernetes in AWS
  • 2+ years of Network support
  • 2+ year of experience in a role such as service desk interfacing directly with customers
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer service orientation and strong customer communication skills
  • Diverse background in understanding many facets of IT operations
  • Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly demanding, dynamic business and cloud operations environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting & issue isolation capabilities
  • Ability to work on a team and collaborate on issues as needed
