The Role

 

The Manager of Software Engineering assumes a pivotal leadership role, providing guidance, support and motivation to the team, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope, and contributing to strategic decisions within the scope of their team.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Foster a positive team culture, instilling a sense of unity and collaboration 

  • Manage performance, provide feedback, and ensure professional growth across team 

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and guide the team in designing complex software systems 

  • Collaborate with product management to prioritize features within the scope of their team’s project 

  • Understand the business context at a team level and align their team’s engineering efforts accordingly 

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to their team’s software development projects 

Requirements:  

  • Experience in software engineering management. 

  • Proven ability in leading teams, strategic planning, and change management. 

  • Strong technical background in software engineering, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies. 

  • Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in software architecture, system design, and implementation. 

  • Strong knowledge of security protocols and risk management. 

  • Ability to drive innovation and implement process improvement at scale. 

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices. 

  • Experience working with distributed teams and managing offshore team members is a plus.
